One Question, for everyone

For nearly a decade, One Question has brought together people from across business, politics, culture and the arts to ask One Question and find answers we can’t find on our own. In 2027, for the first time, we’re curating those conversations for everyone, in collaboration with British photographer and provocateur Rankin.

A new series of live conversations at Curzon Bloomsbury in London, inviting a live audience of no more than eighty people, into an intimate conversation with a guest shaping the world around us. The conversation moves between the guest and the room, then back again, finding new ideas, more commonality, a sense of belonging and answers that tilt our heads.

Rankin

Rankin has spent thirty years using photography to start conversations, from the pages of Dazed and Confused and Hunger to portraits of David Bowie, the Queen and some of the most defining cultural figures of our time. He has always believed a photograph is not the end of a conversation, but the beginning. Rankin joins Sarah to ask the questions that matter today and capture them in a single photograph, launching a brand-new magazine, Cultural Thinking, that brings critical thinking and new answers to everyone.

The Experience

The first series asks, What does it mean to be better?  A better democracy, a better relationship with technology, better art, a better relationship with ourselves and with each other. A single question curated for the moment and the guest: artists, actors, politicians, people you know and people you do not. One Question is small enough to keep guests in the conversation, and big enough to make you think and feel differently than when you arrived.

Cultural Thinking

After every conversation, One Question publishes Cultural Thinking. Each edition captures the ideas and answers that emerged, supported by interviews and illustrated with Rankin’s photography, carrying the conversation beyond the evening.
