Surf Coach & Social Worker

The Wave / Surfability

I spent my twenties managing surf and yoga retreats around the world before moving back to the UK shortly before my 30th birthday to pursue a new career in social care. I qualified as a Social Worker in 2021 and have worked in acute mental health, child exploitation and domestic and sexual trauma. In 2021 myself and a friend set up a surf therapy pilot for women in a domestic violence refuge in North Devon and I wrote my Masters thesis on the research I conducted during the program.

I am also a surf coach and yoga teacher at both The Wave Bristol and for the wonderful surf adaptive charity Surfability in South Wales. I have long experienced the benefits of surfing and being in blue spaces, both professionally and personally, and am passionate about creating access for groups that may not find it easy to access blue spaces or who may not see themselves represented within the surfing community and feel that it is not a place for them.
